New to Waarp with Some Basic Questions

Hello all Waarp experts:

I am new to Waarp and wanted to see if Waarp meet our MFT needs (very simply post-office like tool to support SFTP and HTTPs). After searching the internet. found some conflicts or confusing info about Waarp.

  1. What are the products? Waarp-All OR Waarp Gateway/Manager/Transfer?
  2. there are different version numbers? Waarp-All is at 3.6 but several years old. Waarp-Gateway/manager/Transfer are fairly new, versions are like 0.13, etc. which one should I use? Waarp-All or the new set of Waarp Gateway/Manager/Transfer the descriptions are confusing too to someone who is exploring.

Please clarify and educate me.

Hi and welcome!

I admit this can be confusing. I will try to clarify it:

Waarp-All is the repository of our former MFT agent, which was called Waarp R66.
It only supported our MFT-oriented protocol R66.
This application is now deprecated. That’s why it is several years old.

As a replacement, we now have two newer applications:

  • Waarp Transfer, which is a replacement for Waarp R66
  • Waarp Gateway, which provides protocol breaks and inter-connection.

Waarp Gateway natively supports R66, SFTP, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/TPS, PeSIT, and we are working on adding AS2 and AS4.

If you need to monitor transfers using SFTP and HTTPS, you would need at least Gateway.

Though the latest version is 0.13, they have been maintained for 7 years now, and have been used in production by major organization for years.

As for Manager, it is an application designed to centrally configure all of Waarp Transfer and Gateway agents of an organization, and monitor their transfers.
